Corporate information

The IBIT Foundation is a technology centre which is a private, not-for-profit foundation with competitive finance objectives, as established in its Founding Charter approved by the Council of the Balearic Islands Government on 20 February 1998.

The main objective of the IBIT Foundation is to carry out activities and studies aimed at developing training, research, promotion, assistance and other actions making it possible to implement and develop the Information and Knowledge Society on the Balearic Islands.

Its origins date from 1994, when the Government of the Balearic Islands set up the BIT Institute (Balearic Islands Institute of Technological Innovation) in order to take part in developing largely European projects for acquiring knowledge and the use of remote data applications. The projects developed during those years have led to the IBIT Foundation being currently being considered a landmark for technological innovation projects and one of the only official technology centres on the Balearic Islands.
